Mastercraft Tool Box Warranty Of Merchantability

Here we go, another CT Returns question, I couldn't really see a lot on this though searching through recent threads. I haven't exchanged a mastercraft tool for years now, but I have a level that has a defect in the bubble so I'd like to exchange it. There used to be no problems at all exchanging it, product number is printed right on it, as long as you got a replacement the same.

As I've heard of lots of return problems lately, thought I would see how they seem to be handling these types of exchanges now without receipt. Apparently the official policy is you must keep a receipt. So I guess when you buy any Mastercraft hand tool, you have to keep the receipt for your entire life if you plan to use the warranty, seems a little redundant as it's clear what tool it is, and as long as you go in alive, then it's still in your lifetime.

Just give it a run? Or am I wasting my time driving there. Oct 31st, 2010 12:03 amHere we go, another CT Returns question, I couldn't really see a lot on this though searching through recent threads. When I return President's choice products in superstore,i never had problem even I didn't have receipt That's what I thought, Loblaws never cards, but that is their official policy. I was just a bit surprised to hear CT's official policy is that receipt is required.

But the stores are franchised, so who knows what rules anyone would follow. Like I said, CT didn't USED to requre a receipt for this kind of thing, but times changed, and gas is expensive I don't know if I will bother even exchanging this, but I'm still interested in responses because if they aren't allowing easy exchanges in these situations then I will go buy better stuff elsewhere. On a side note, anyone have experience as well with Home Depot exchanging Husky stuff that carries the same warranty I believe?

Oct 31st, 2010 2:02 amCT's official policy is that receipt is required. But the stores are franchised, so who knows what rules anyone would follow. The receipt policy is outrageous you can't buy a Mastercraft tool anywhere other than Crappy Tyre. Perhaps the issue is that some items like hand tools carry a lifetime warranty while others like power tools have only a 1 or 3 year warranty. I can see why they'd want a receipt in the latter case. I also realize that a level is a hand tool, but maybe some of their drones don't, or conveniently use this as an excuse to deny you a replacement. Since each store is independently-owned the policies they follow in practice may vary from store to store. Why don't you phone around, describe the problem with your level and ask if they can exchange it under warranty.
